On-site

Everything stays in your building

For madrassahs whose committee wants their records under their own roof. A small, quiet computer at the madrassah runs all of ClassNest: the database, sign-in, files, the web app and backups.

The same ClassNest, on your own computer

Staff and parents use the same iPhone, Android and web apps as everyone else, pointed at your madrassah's computer instead of the cloud. Every module runs on it, for any number of pupils, except fees and donations paid online, which aren't available on site yet: fees are taken in person, or by bank transfer from the parent's banking app, which they report in the app and you confirm.

  • Your data stays with you

Records and files are kept on the computer in your building, with full-disk encryption. The only copy that leaves is your off-site backup, and that is encrypted before it goes.

  • Backed up every night

A backup to a separate drive in the building every night, and an encrypted copy off site, so a fire, flood or theft doesn't take your records with it. The off-site copy is included in the price.

  • Updated every month

We install tested updates each month, and take a backup before every one, so you get new features and fixes without lifting a finger.

  • Remote help only with your permission

Our support can sign in to your computer only while your headmaster allows it, for up to four hours, and each permission and sign-in appears in your activity log. We also keep a copy of your computer's keys, to restore or replace it, and we choose the updates it installs. The computer tells us its version, free space and when it last backed up, never your records.

Using it in the madrassah and at home

On the madrassah's Wi-Fi, ClassNest works in any browser and in the apps, and it keeps working in the building even if your internet connection goes down.

Emails, texts to parents (with a Twilio account), push notifications and the online admissions form all run on the computer, and need your internet connection going out.

So that parents and teachers can use it from home, and families can fill in the admissions form, we set up a secure link through Cloudflare Tunnel. Nothing is opened on your router, and phones get a proper secure address.

The hardware

We buy it for you and charge what we paid. Prices change, so these are a guide.

What goes in your building
Item What it's for Approximate cost
Mini PC: Intel N150, 16 GB memory, 512 GB NVMe drive Runs ClassNest £220–£300
1 TB USB SSD Nightly backups in the building £60
Small UPS Protects against power cuts £70–£90
Total About £350–£450

All you need to do is keep it switched on, plugged into your router with a cable, and tell us if you move it.

Is on-site right for you?

Most madrassahs are best served by our UK cloud: there is nothing to plug in, look after or replace. On-site suits you if your committee wants your records kept in the building and you have a reliable internet connection and somewhere safe to keep a small computer.

If your building loses power or internet, parents at home can't reach ClassNest until it is back. Your data is safe either way.
